A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

September 18, 2008

I flew into Columbus and arrived at midnight. My husband greeted me with a dozen red roses and a huge welcome back hug. My pug, Beau-Beau snuggled up with me on our 2 hour drive back to Cincinnati. Bruce chatted about Hurricane Ike and how Cincinnati was 90% in the dark. Cincinnati had no rain, but hurricaine strong winds. We've had a dead tree in our yard for a couple of years now that I had hoped got toppled. It did not. Dag. We were fortunate. Neighbors lost trees and three Cincinnatians were killed by the storm. A week later there are still some without power. Our power came on after 5 days and it was neither here nor there with me. I was used to processed foods and headlamps. Upon arriving home, I went straight to sleep and didn't wake up for a full 24 hours! It had been a long and arduous journey.
