Love was in the air today! I ascended to the top of Mt. Killington an elevation of 4,235 feet to the sound of bagpipes. The Wedding March echoed throughout the mountains. When I reached the summit, I immediately noticed a beautiful bride donned in a full-length, white wedding gown, and gorgeously decorated white sneakers. The handsome, tuxedoed groom was wearing black patent leather dress shoes and a big smile. Approximately 20 nicely dressed wedding guests were moving about on the rocks. Wow-what a scene! The vista atop Killington could not have provided a more perfect backdrop for this romantic wedding. Theresa and Wayne were married today and I hiked right up to it. Theresa was thrilled to meet her first woman thru-hiker and we chatted before we took pictures. I was even given a flower bouquet to hold! To witness their sacred day on the mountaintop after 1,700 miles of hiking the A.T. was a memory I will hold dear to my heart forever. Good luck to you, Theresa and Wayne. May you share a lifetime of happiness! |
