Today, I saw a thru-hiker from Cincinnati named, I Need A Hug. We met on top of Mt. Washington. I Need A Hug is hiking with Scarecrow and they are both doing well. It was great to see a familiar face from home. I learned today, April Showers, a woman who began the same day as myself, had an accident and allegedly broke her ankle. Ironically, April Showers' fall was in the same part of the trail where I too, struggled. I was hoping to hike with April and I was sad to learn of her injury. The view atop Mt. Washington was cloud covered which is typical. Luckily, the wind was not too bad. In 1934, an on-land wind speed of 231 miles per hour was recorded, which still stands as the world's record. |
