I hiked out early today, beginning at 6:45 a.m., knowing I had an 18 mile day planned.  Hiking early in the morning is beautiful, serene, and cool.  I took pictures of spider webs weaved across two berry bushes, a chipmunk perched on a log, trail shots and even An Appalachian Trail Detour Sign...my first detour sign in nearly 1200 miles!  As I approached my 14th mile, I was parched from lack of water resources.  I spotted Bear's pack and hiking pole under a sign.  On top of the sign I noticed a beautiful bird with vibrant colors.  I quietly pulled out my camera hoping not to startle the bird.  I was thrilled to get a snapshot of the Oriole perched above Bear's backpack.  As I hiked closer, the bird did not budge.  So...I zoomed in this time and took a close-up shot of the wooden sign and the Oriole. Still the bird was not phased.  No wonder.  The beautiful bird was stuffed! I laughed and laughed at myself as I shared my photography story with Bear.
