I was planning to hike out of Duncannon today, but instead, Bear and I opted to take a zero day. Why? I had clean smelling sheets and a nice cool breeze wafting through my $12.50 a night room so why not? I purchased a tennis ball. Actually, it was a Hartz tennis ball for dogs and Epsom Salt to help my aching feet. A friend recommended that I roll my feet across the ball to massage the foot.
I also went to the United Methodist Church here in town to use the computer available to thru-hikers. And...Bear and I planned our next three weeks of hiking. Duncannon is a great, hiker-friendly town with permanent, wood-engraved Welcome Hikers signs dangling from local eateries and The Doyle. When I hike out of Duncannon, PA, I will be smiling about this small, Pennsylvania town's culture and hospitality towards thru-hikers. |
