May 1, 2004

Today, I attended a Celtic trial wedding ceremony at the Campground in
Hot Springs, NC.  Loon and Lizard were joined together as husband and
wife for a period of one year and one day.  They met on the A.T. in 2000
and had been courting for the past four years.

I then had a mineral bath with my husband, Bruce, a welcome relief to my
aching body.  Bruce and I had dinner with Bear and Radio Flyer at the
Paddler's Pub where we listened to music by Vanessa Boyd.  I got the
opportunity to meet the One Leg Wonder, Scott Rodgers.  Scott and I had
exchanged emails so it was great to finally meet him and his 13 year-old
son, Tyler.  He told me that he is now wearing a backup prosthesis while
his bionic leg is being repaired which he expects to take 10 or more days.  After leaving the Paddler's Pub, I noticed Scott riding a bike toward the campground where his wife and family were camping.  He was riding alongside his wife's SUV holding on to the mirror on the driver's side of the car.  I found that to be incredibly daring but he is the one leg wonder for a reason.  Happy Trails Scott! You are a tremendous inspiration to us all!

To date, I have hiked 284.6 miles with three zero days.  I will press onward Sunday with Bear while Radio Flyer leaves the trail for a few days. Bear and I will miss him very much.
