The A.T. does not summit Sugarloaf Mountain, but I opted to hike the six tenths of a mile side trail. On a clear day, one can view both Mt. Washington and Mt. Katahdin. Today was cloudy, so I did not get a glimpse of the big "K". My final summit is still a mystery to me. Today, I thought about what I will do when I summit Katahdin and how I will react. I also thought about Bear. We had planned to summit Katahdin together and agreed upon a date so that our families could make travel arrangements. I have not seen Bear on the trail, nor have I read any entries from him in the shelter registers. I hope that Bear is still enjoying his journey and hiking well. I really hope to see him on Katahdin! |
