A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

April 5, 2007

I slept one hour last night because I was paralyzed with fear.  The fourth group of illegal aliens went by my campsite around 6:00 a.m.  I was relieved to finally see dawn, but very concerned about my day ahead. Knowing I would be hiking in a very heavy illegal traffic area worried me. Murph and I hiked the next eight miles with caution.  We also spotted remnants from the aliens.  We hiked to Camp Morena and took a shower and siesta.

We hiked on and took a break after a big climb.  I went behind a boulder to piddle and had a close encounter with a four foot rattlesnake!!!  I ran, screamed, and went back to get a picture.  I hiked on with Murph in tow until I got my nerve back.  We camped at Boulder Oaks Campground with another hiker named Dan.  I felt a wee bit safer tonight because there were three of us and we were now 26 miles from the border.  One group of aliens stampeded by and I suspect that they had hooked up with their ride.  I slept soundly tonight.
