A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

April 8, 2007

I am camping atop a water tank with Ed.  We wanted to camp on a flat surface.  The problem is the errant winds are blowing our tents sideways.  I finally recommended we rope the tops of our tent frames together so we won't blow off of the water tank in mid-sleep.  Ed's windscreen is roped to the water tank's lid.  My windscreen has my water bag keeping it in place...sort of.

I am eating my way through my food bag to lighten my load for tomorrow's hike.  I have to carry enough water to hike 24 miles in the desert.  That will put my pack weight at 55 to 60 pounds according to Dave, the lightweight hiker.  We went 15 miles today which would have been great except the winds were really strong the entire day.  It was difficult to find a comfortable reprieve away from the heavy winds.
