I camped last night at Barrel Springs because there was piped water. Ed was with me and we pitched our tents in a sandy wash...sort of like sleeping on kitty litter. My tent site appeared flat but when I got into my sleeping bag, my head was lower than my body. I had two choices: I could turn around in my tent but my feet end is way smaller than my head end or...I could sleep in a decline position. I opted for the decline position. Bats flew overhead catching the insects.
I awoke to two sets of people walking by my tent. Ed and I were slow to break camp because the morning air is chilly and I'm a wimp. We began hiking at nine making our way past cows, cow pies, and open fields. We hiked upon Eagle Rock and stopped to take pictures. The natural rock formation is amazingly beautiful. The position of the rocks looks like an eagle, complete with a beak and outstretched wings. We hiked the next three miles giddily before hitching into Warner Springs. Woo-hoo! Total mileage to date: 109.6 |
