I stayed overnight in Warner Springs at the Warner Springs Ranch. Today was my first zero day meaning that I hiked 0 miles and NOT that I'm a zero..aka..loser. John Warner established the Warner Trading Post on this site in 1844. Early stagecoach travelers stopped here to relax and rejuvenate in the hot mineral spring waters (140 degrees!) just as native Indians had done for generations. I too enjoyed soaking my weary body in the hot springs. It was an easy way to relax and do laundry simultaneously. After all, I was wearing my only set of clothes. I spent today making phone calls and preparing my pack for my trip northward. I also took a three hour midday nap. I purchased some New-Skin at the gas station and tended to my blistered toes. I feel refreshed and excited to be moving on tomorrow. |
