A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

April 26, 2007

Just as swimmers brave the initial shock of the chilly water day in and day out, thru-hikers brave the chilly air.  Brrrr!  I love to hike AFTER my first mile when I can begin to peel off a layer at a time.  My plan today was to hike big miles....27 perhaps.  The post office hours put me into full speed mode.  I began by 7:30 a.m. and hiked up to the first female hiker since being out here.

Breeze is section hiking from Warner Springs to Aqua Dulce.  We chatted for awhile before I had to push on to meet my goal.  I loaded up on water and was quite enjoying my early morning saunter.  I formed a snowball to make Ed smile.  Brew Crew started the snowball games a week ago.  I was hiking in high heat just yesterday!  Seeing snow again made me smile, too.  I scripted Choo-choo in the snow in honor of my trainer, Walter, and his infamous Pain Train.  The day's hike was beautiful in the San Bernardino Mountains.
