A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

August 5, 2008

Today I met with Steve West, the CEO of Hospice of Cincinnati. Our lunch meeting at Parker's reaffirmed my commitment to raising funds for Hospice in my sister's memory. My goal is $100,000.00. I then hiked from my house down to the Loveland Bike Trail and, carrying my backpack, hiked to Loveland which was a total of 12 miles. I stopped off at my favorite country store to get a king-sized Drumstick, but the freezer was broken and there was no ice cream....dag. I purchased a new tracking device called the Spot and I'm still trying to figure it out. When I do, my readers will be able to go to my website and watch me hike along. The Spot is replacing my satellite phone b/c it is lighter in weight. I also learned today that my hike will be rerouted due to the fires out west. There is a 16 mile stretch that is blocked off so I will need to hike around that area.

The logistics to any distance hike is massive and requires thorough and time consuming planning. My husband, Manbug, has been a huge help again this year with my food drop boxes. He has become quite efficient with his methods and I love anything that Manbug ships to me.
