I traveled 400 mph this morning...by plane.
30-30 and I flew from Medford, Oregon to Portland, Oregon. We were met by Troll
(PCT 2007) and to my delight, his family's two fawn pugs. Troll drove 30-30 and
me to Trout Lake where we picked up our resupply boxes. Troll kindly waited as we
unpacked and restuffed our backpacks. He then shuttled us to the trailhead at Forest
Rd. 23. I was now hiking northward to the sight of my 2007 accident. We enjoyed
gorgeous snowcapped glimpses of Mt. Adams. I was very happy to be back in WA again
and inhaling the crisp mountain air. The mosquitos are nasty, even though I had
sprayed myself. We hiked close to 8 miles after a long travel day. I am camped alongside
30-30 at 6200'. Tomorrow I will cross the creek where I broke (shattered) my tibula-fibula
in 2007. I am psyched to get there and put my broken leg incident behind me.
