A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

August 29, 2008

It poured last night. Everything I own is now wet so I'm hoping that today will be a dry day. I unzipped my tent fly to relieve the little pine tree that also had cover inside my tent. 30-30 was not speaking to me because he was still mad about our campsite choice. He hiked on and I hiked alone most of today. I was wet and cold and my leg hurt for the first time since the beginning of my hike. I am hoping that the steel plates and screws is the cause of my leg pain. I took some Advil and wrapped my leg with Coban and hiked onward through cloud mist and rain. As I hiked, I discovered that I had cell service so I immediately called my husband. To hear his voive brightened my day. The human contact was an emotional high. I then phoned my son, only to get his voicemail. I called my mom and dad and told them how much I love them. My mom had overcome lung cancer surgery and seems to be doing great. She continues to serve as my own inspiration as I hiked onward to Canada. I do miss seeing them, my husband, my adult children, and my dog, Beau-Beau. At one point today, I told 30-30 that I was getting off the trail at the next opportunity to dry out. We were lucky to have run into a family camping for Labor Day weekend. They kindly drove us into Snoqualamie where we checked into the Summit Inn.
