Today, I hiked 14.2 miles which was short of our group's goal. My body had bonked. We played leap-frog with Marcia and Ken Powers and caught up to Patrick and Clara who had started a day earlier out of Kennedy Meadows. The trees in the Sierras all take on their own personalities. Even the dead trees display character. At one point, today, 30-30 told Fireball and me to look upward. I saw what can be described as a cloud rainbow. As I looked up, I saw the letter C attached to a cloud. My sister's name was Cheryl so I took that as a Hello and a smile from her. The cloud rainbow was an amazing phenomenon. I did not capture it with a photo but the cloud rainbow will always remain in my mind's eye. At day's end, I hung my Ursack bear bag and prayed my food would be there in the morning. |
