A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

June 3, 2007

30-30 discovered a scorpion on his Tyvek this morning when he was breaking camp at Rock Creek.  I was surprised scorpions thrived at 11,000 feet above sea level!  Our group had planned to hike 10 miles today.  We hiked past the ranger's station at Crabtree Meadow and took pictures of ourselves inside the bear box.  Why not?  Clara, Patrick, Fireball, 30-30, and I hiked past Timberline Lake and camped in a marmot playground at Guitar Lake.  The marmots seemed to enjoy teasing 30-30 outside of his tent.  This is the first area where I have begun to notice the mosquitoes.  I spent tonight hydrating and anticipating my big Mt. Whitney climb in the morning.
