A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

June 14, 2007

I slept in until 8:00 a.m. today at VVR.  30-30 and I went to breakfast which is my favorite meal when I'm in town.  Tod cooked me two eggs over medium, sausage, hash browns, toast, a side order of bacon and O.J.  My meal was delicious.  I went back to my room to launder my clothes and organize my pack for my hike forward.  30-30 and I surprised Fireball with a fireball patterned bandana, a cherry pie, and a birthday card signed by all of the hikers.  We then had lunch and three scoops of chocolate ice cream.

At 4:00 p.m. we loaded our packs into the van for our ferry ride back to the trailhead.  30-30 and I began our hike northward again and climbed nearly 2,000 feet to reach an elevation of close to 10,000 feet.  My six mile hike stopped short of going over Silver Pass.  30-30 and I set up camp by 6:30 p.m. next to a creek.  Tonight, I am sleeping without my rainfly hoping to view a beautiful starry night above the tall pine trees.  I am happy to be back in the mountains snug in my cozy sleeping bag.  The sounds of nature comfort me.  I am at home on the PCT in God's natural world.  Total miles to date: 883
