A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

June 18, 2007

30-30 and I got an early start today leaving Mammoth.  I stopped at The Bakery to purchase three glazed donuts.  Immediately, we received a hitch to the ski lodge thanks to 30-30's PCT hikers to trail sign which was painted on his Tyvek footprint.  At the lodge we received our second hitch to the trailhead with a cowboy and a full horse trailer.

30-30 and I began our hike from Red's Meadow Pack Station by 7:30 a.m. We hiked past the Devil's Postpile National Monument and continued on for 19.6 miles.  We ended our day at Maries Lake.  30-30 and I cooked tacos for dinner which were awesome.  30-30 cooked the beef (one and one-third pounds) with taco seasonings.  I cut and cooked the onions before adding them to the beef mixture.  I also cut up tomatoes.  We had cheese, lettuce, and taco shells to complete our meal.  The steady sounds coming from the stream lulled me to sleep as I gazed at the moon and Venus lighting up the night sky.
