A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

May 4, 2007

I took the day off today.  I laundered my clothes, re-supplied, ordered my Ursack Bear Bag and aluminum liner (approved as of May 3, 2007), made phone calls, paid bills, ate, soaked in the hot tub and rested.  The Best Western in Cajon Pass is a nice reprieve, but the noisy highway and trains certainly have me pining for the quiet trail.

The section ahead has been known to have gang activity so I will hike on Ed's heels.  Ed's Marine training is awesome.  His acute senses allows him to see and hear everything long before I do.  He has a keen sense of direction and is a very smart hiker.  His quick wit and sense of humor keeps me entertained.  He is developing a trail name too, Bison Ed.  You'll have to get the details from Ed himself.

This is what I'll be carrying for food:

Seven Oatmeal to Go bars

Seven Nutri-Grain bars

Seven tubs Jif peanut butter

10 flour tortillas

10 tubs jelly

14 bags Sport Beans

Seven Zone Perfect bars

Seven Promax bars

Five PayDay candy bars

Seven Mountain House Pro-Pak Meals

Seven Peanut M&M's

10 Propel drink mixes

Two Hot Apple Cider drink mixes

Fig Newtons
