A 2,650 mile charity hike...in loving memory.

May 24, 2007

It is 3:30 in the afternoon and I am in my tent.  I hiked 15 miles today from one water cache to another.  I wanted to spend all night hydrating for my 20 mile day tomorrow.  And...I wanted to rest.  After a 25.4 mile day and a 22.8 mile day, I am rewarding myself with a mere 15 miler.

My hike, today, took me through thick sandy terrain dotted with Joshua trees.  The Piute Mountain range is beautifully remote with altitude's ranging from 4,900 to 5,700 feet.  At day's end, Steel Eye, Patrick, Clara, and Bison Ed all hiked up to the water cache which is where I had pitched my tent.  The wind is strong and birds are singing.  Tonight, I will be fast asleep before dusk.
