Choosing to return home to Cincinnati was a good decision. Shipping my gear through
Greyhound was not. I am still trying to locate my Western Mountaineering sleeping
bag, my Jet Boil, my Steri-Pen, my Therma-Rest air mattress, 4 pairs of smart wool
socks, my Ursack bear canister and aluminum liner, a pocketknife loaned to me by
Oblivious, my Tyvek, my Marmot tent and poles, etc., etc. I am really bummed about
these investments gone missing. Some of them are sentimental. When a hiker leaves
the CDT in Lordsburg, NM, the only option (without a car) is to ship gear items
through Greyhound. I was at least smart enough to carry my phone, pocketmail, GPS,
camera, and computer. I am thankful that my food items arrived so that I could return
them to my sponsor. I am also thankful that Yogi's umbrella arrived so that I could
ship it back to her. I am not done hiking and will now need to replenish my gear
items all over again unless Greyhound tracks my 2 boxes. I have done the necessary
paperwork and filed it in Cincinnati and will keep the faith for now anyway.
